At West Springs Church, we want to show God’s love to those around us, impact change in our communities, and help cultivate a more equitable world for all. There are many volunteer opportunities to serve in our church and community… and one of the best ways to connect is by serving together as part of team. Check out some great opportunities below!
Service Teams
Mustard Seed Team
For almost 30 years, West Springs Church has supported the work of The Mustard Seed serving homeless people in Calgary. Our involvement includes providing a team to prepare and serve the evening meal one Thursday each month. A small commitment that makes a huge impact. No training required but brief orientation will be provided.

Asylum Seekers Initiative
The Church has always welcomed and ministered to those who are persecuted, in danger, and in need on the basis of the Lord’s words: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…. Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25). The migration/refugee crisis in the world today challenges our central principles as followers of Christ.
For the past 4 years, this group has successfully assisted the resettlement in Canada of asylum-seekers from Syria, Iraq, Congo, and Ukraine. The work continues. You are welcome to join the team!
We are currently raising money to sponsor our next Ukrainian family. Thanks to Kristen Klok, many volunteers, and Truman Homes, we had an amazing Jazz reception / silent auction fundraiser where we raised over $13,000, all of which will go directly to the settlement and sponsorship of this Ukrainian Refugee family.

Hospitality Team
Our Hospitality Team lays out the Welcome Mat at WSC, creating an inclusive and warm atmosphere for everyone. You can lend a hand as a Greeter, part of the Coffee Crew, or helping to organize food-and-beverage service for our celebration and fellowship times.

Kids & Teens Ministries
One of the most important (and rewarding!) ways to serve at WSC is by helping our kids & youth learn about God, form meaningful relationships with each other, and serve together in a positive, fun environment. This is easy, fun, and rewarding work, and it is important we have enough volunteers to keep our Kids programs running, so please consider this opportunity.

Care Team
An arm of the pastor providing practical and spiritual encouragement to those in our congregation in need.

Tech & Media Team
Are you interested in the audio, visual, and technical aspects of the morning service? Lots of opportunities to serve, whether it’s running the media computer, helping with the camera & lights, editing/post-processing video, being a live sound engineer, or even just wrangling cables!
