WSC’s Book Group’s 2026 Winter selection:

Scot McKnight, THE KING JESUS GOSPEL: THE ORIGINAL GOOD NEWS REVISITED (Amazon Link)

What is the Gospel? Most Christians are pretty confident they know the answer. But… are you sure your answer fully resonates with the Bible? Or is your understanding of the gospel incomplete and shaped more by contemporary church culture than Scripture? This book presents a revolutionary but simple understanding of the Good News that has profound implications for personal discipleship and the mission of the local church.

At the root of the many problems that trouble the “church visible” today, there is one simple source: the message that is preached…. Scot McKnight here presents, with great force and clarity, the one gospel of the Bible and of Jesus the King and SaviorIn the course of this he deals with the primary barrier to the power of Jesus’ gospel today, that is, a view of salvation and of grace that has no connection with discipleship and spiritual transformation. – Dallas Willard

This book could be one of God’s ways of reminding the new generation of Christians that it has to grow up to take responsibility for thinking things through. – N.T. Wright

If you are interested in a conversation about this book with others, you are invited to join the online discussion (end of February date TBA).
