Current Book (January): “When We Belong: Reclaiming Christianity on the Margins” by Rohadi Nagassar (Amazon.ca link)
Everyone longs to have a place to be known. To belong. Everyone longs for that moment when the affirmation wells up inside: “These are my people – I belong here. I can survive here. I can thrive here.”
When it feels as though there’s no place to belong, the good news is that Jesus invites everyone into a love that knows no bounds and a community that truly liberates. But too often the church is an impediment to knowing that belonging. Are we part of a truly welcoming and liberating church… or do we just like to think we are? For Christians (maybe even you or someone close to you) who know the pain, isolation, and loss of identity that comes with the ongoing struggle to be seen and heard in churches full of barriers to belonging, you are not alone. Sometimes it can feel easier to walk away from faith completely. Or pretend you are someone you are not, just to fit in. But there is another way.
Rohadi Nagassar’s book is for those longing to find belonging and for everyone who wants to join in building radically inclusive Christian communities where all people can live authentically and fully in their own skin.
We will have the pleasure of welcoming the author Rohadi Nagassar to our online discussion of his book hosted by Pastor Keitha on Thursday, February 2.
**NOTE: Pastor Keitha is arranging a bulk order of the book. If you would like her to include one for you, let her know by January 1.

“Rohadi Nagassar has given the church a powerful gift…an embodied path of true belonging, not in spite of our questions, doubts, or discomforts which church, but because of them.” – Sarah Bessey
